Meet the Mates...

I’ve joined a club. It’s not something I do very often, and it’s not something I would usually shout about doing. But this club is different, and it’s important.

After more than ten years as an independent online presence, StageReviews.co.uk has officially become part of the My Theatre Mates network. If you haven’t come across them before, they’re a loosely-affiliated collection of more than 50 theatre writers and bloggers, brought together under the Mates umbrella to share posts, expertise and theatre information. Oh, and some great ticketing deals.

It was founded by former Whatsonstage.com editor Terri Paddock and erstwhile Stage chief critic Mark Shenton, and it’s a fantastic resource for news, reviews and informed opinion about theatre. Other esteemed Mates include Libby Purves, Susan Elkin and Thom Dibdin.

As a theatre journalist, it can be lonely out there. Some of my reviews appear on Whatsonstage.com, others get an airing on this website. Joining My Theatre Mates will allow them to reach an even wider audience. Plus there are all the benefits of being stronger in numbers and part of a team.

It’s an exciting development for StageReviews and I’m thrilled to be a member of this particular club. I’m looking forward to seeing where the next part of the journey takes us.
